Sandi Weber Earns SBA 2012 Financial Service Champion of the Year

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced its annual award winners for 2012. Sandi Weber, Vice President Commercial - SBA Lending for Quinnipiac Bank & Trust Company, has been selected to receive the prestigious Financial Services Champion of the Year award for Connecticut.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and recognizing those who work so hard to help others start and grow their businesses is truly an honor,” said Bernard Sweeney, SBA District Director for Connecticut. “It is a particular privilege to present this award to Sandi Weber, who is well known and highly regarded for her work helping Connecticut’s entrepreneurs obtain the funding they need to operate their businesses and create economic opportunity in the region,” added Sweeney.

Weber has over 35 years of lending experience and started out as a loan officer with the SBA Connecticut District Office. Ms. Weber later went on to work with several large financial institutions in Connecticut and started as Vice President of Quinnipiac Bank & Trust Company since 2008. During her tenure, Weber has developed extensive partnerships with private sector companies, federal, state and local governments. Ms. Weber has volunteered her time in assisting small businesses in Connecticut with serving as an officer with The Connecticut Small Business: “Key to the Future” since its inception. Sandi has exhibited a high degree of energy in servicing small businesses lending needs in Connecticut, especially with regard to the SBA guaranteed loans. Ms. Weber is highly experienced and well regarded use of SBA loans programs, often called on to share her expertise underwriting revolving credit and term loans using a federal guarantee. She is extremely talented individual who has been assisting small businesses in Connecticut with their commercial loan needs for the past 38 years, and has consistently been one of top lenders in commercial lending, commercial and consumer loans in Connecticut.

Ms. Weber is responsible for building the SBA portfolio at Quinnipiac Bank & Trust Company and has contributed over $11.9 million in SBA portfolio growth and $15.9 in conventional portfolio growth. She has also obtained recognition from the SBA as the Emerging Lender of the Year in 2009 and for her Outstanding Contributions in 2011.

Weber was nominated for this award by Robert F. Polito Jr., who is Sr. VP of Government Guaranteed Lending for Webster Bank and President of CT Small Business/Key to the Future. Weber will be honored at an SBA celebration breakfast on June 5, 2012 at the Heritage Hotel in Southbury.
